Global Scaling of Rainfall With Dewpoint Temperature Reveals Considerable Ocean?Land Difference

چکیده

Short-duration rainfall extremes are expected to intensify with warming at around 7%/K, following the Clausius-Clapeyron (CC) relation, causing concomitant increases in flash floods. Observed hourly show consistent CC-scaling dewpoint temperature across all land regions. Here, we use two global climate reanalysis products (ERA5 and MERRA-2) examine consistency scaling observations, ungauged regions over oceans. We find that reanalyzes underestimate observed scaling, but ERA5 provides better estimates than MERRA-2. Scaling rates high latitudes midlatitudes similar CC, while tropics mixed negative- super-CC seen. underestimation of is related deficiencies simulations extreme orographically complex convection dominated Importantly, both indicate ocean substantially higher land, implications for weather events originating ocean.

Global Warming Pattern Formation: Sea Surface Temperature and Rainfall

Spatial variations in sea surface temperature (SST) and rainfall changes over the tropics are investigated based on ensemble simulations for the first half of the twenty-first century under the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission scenario A1B with coupled ocean–atmosphere general circulation models of the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL) and National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)...

Global-Scale Associations of Vegetation Phenology with Rainfall and Temperature at a High Spatio-Temporal Resolution

Phenology response to climatic variables is a vital indicator for understanding changes in biosphere processes as related to possible climate change. We investigated global phenology relationships to precipitation and land surface temperature (LST) at high spatial and temporal resolution for calendar years 2008–2011. We used cross-correlation between MODIS Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), MODIS...

Maximum likelihood difference scaling.

We present a stochastic model of suprathreshold perceptual differences based on difference measurement. We develop a maximum likelihood difference scaling (MLDS) method for estimating its parameters and evaluate the reliability and distributional robustness of the fitting method. We also describe a method for testing whether the difference measurement model is appropriate as a description of hu...

Regional scaling of annual mean precipitation and water availability with global temperature change

Changes in regional water availability belong to the most crucial potential impacts of anthropogenic climate change, but are highly uncertain. It is thus of key importance for stakeholders to assess the possible implications of different global temperature thresholds on these quantities. Using a subset of climate model simulations from the fifth phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Projec...

The Numerical analysis of an anode-supported high temperature DIR-PSOFC operating conditions with considering the maximum allowable temperature difference

In the present study, the operating conditions of an anode-supported high temperature direct internal reforming (DIR) planar solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) are numerically analyzed. SOFCs are the energy conversion devices that produce electricity and heat directly from a gaseous fuel by the electrochemical combination of that fuel with an oxidant. A planar SOFC consists of an interconnect structu...
